It’s sort of fun proving the ‘never talk to strangers’ mantra wrong…

The idea started when I found myself with an extra day in Rome without much planned to do. I thought it would be interesting to try to capture some of the interesting faces going about their normal days all around me.

But instead of trying to snap photos without them noticing me (as I normally do) I instead decided to try and ask their permission to take a portrait. I got a lot of strange looks, and more than a handful of ‘no’s, but I also got a few people to agree.

This is the first of hopefully many such sets, that I will try to put together as I travel.  These first photos are a bit raw and rushed, but hopefully they will improve as I get more comfortable with the ’15 second portrait’ technique!
