The idea to take a quick ‘stress relieving’ trip the week before our wedding sounded like the perfect excuse to visit one of our favourite places, Victoria, and take in a weekend music festival while we were at it.
The Rock the Shores festival is only in its third year or existence, but it’s already drawing in some pretty big names! (Once Cecilia found out her favourite band Weezer was playing, we had no choice but to buy our tickets)
We flew out a few days early to visit with our good friends Ben and Steph (and Oliver), and to do a bit of hiking before the festival. I was fortunate to get a photo pass for the weekend, and VERY fortunate to also get backstage passes from one of Cecilia’s good friends who just happened to be the festival promoter! (She actually scored backstage passes for Cece, Ben, Steph AND myself…wowzers!)
The first day of music was amazing. Acres of Lions, Jimmy Eat World, 54-40, The Sheepdogs, Matthew Good and City & Colour. (My personal favourite of day 1 would have to be Dallas Green…he is always amazing)
Day two may have even been better, however, with Reignwolf, Vince Vaccaro, AWOLNation, Mother Mother, Sam Roberts Band and Weezer. I still can’t believe I have shot WEEZER! This was certainly an experience I will never forget.
