Who says you can’t travel back in time?
Armed with three different vintage cameras, I set out with my friend Sandy (of Sandy Phimester Photography) to learn the basics of shooting with film. There is certainly a learning curve when transitioning from digital, however getting used to the weight and feel of these cameras made for a great experience! Shooting film meant that we had to concentrate completely on exposure and focus and light…there would be no chimping the monitor or digital editing using Photoshop to ensure we got useable images. But the fear of the unknown is exceptionally motivating, and the anticipation of getting back those physical prints a few days later made me feel like a kid on Christmas morning. The photos didn’t turn out perfect, but maybe that’s the whole point.
